Downs syndrom is an illness that commonly affects an individual’s ability to learn at the same rate as others, along with sometimes causing physical disabilities. Individuals with downs syndrome can live a very happy and product lifestyle, but they do need to be monitored closely for any potential health complications that could arise at anytime.

Diagnosing downs syndrom can occur before a child is even born. With the help of certain tests used to screen for various complications during pregnancy, physicians are often able to tell an expectant woman whether or not her child has an increased chance of having downs syndrome. Even with the best screening, however, there is always the possibility of a false positive reading.

There is no one specific cause of the illness other than the fact that it occurs due to an extra copy of genetic material. Often occurring spontaneously, there are currently no known preventative measures that can be taken to guard against the development of downs syndrome. There are, however, some factors that may increase it’s probability, including increased maternal age.
Downs syndrome is believed to cause various other medical conditions, which means treatment is often sought for heart defects, muscular and/or skeletal abnormalities, respiratory problems, the development of sleep apnea, digestive defects, problems with the thyroid, an increased likelihood of developing leukemia, Alzheimer’s and eye problems. This does not mean that every individual with downs syndrome will develop these illnesses, but they may be more susceptible than others.

Just like any other child, education is an important part of life. Individuals who suffer from downs syndrome may or may not have a difficult time learning at the same level as their peers. In fact, many downs syndrome patients can be quite successful in school, but it is very important to evaluate each individual separately. If a downs syndrome child does begin to show learning problems, he/she may benefit from the use of a tutor or extra help from family members to make sure that they are getting personal attention to their questions.

The information in this article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be considered as, or used in place of, medical advice or professional recommendations for the cause, diagnosis or treatment of downs syndrome. If necessary, individuals should consult a medical doctor for information regarding the likelihood of a child developing downs syndrome, a proper diagnosis and/or course of treatment.

Toenail fungi, the same bugs that cause athlete’s foot, squeeze under toenails and hide. Foot sweat combines with the toe jam and toenail fungus to form a damp festering jelly which is an unstoppable force. This is a toenail-fungus patient memoir.

In fact, athlete’s foot is one of the most common toenail fungus infections. Often, toenail fungus follows athlete’s foot. Almost anyone who wears tight-fitting shoes or tight hosiery is more likely to develop toenail fungus, especially if they also practice poor foot hygiene. Use different towels to dry off the infected skin area. For athlete’s foot and toenail fungus, keep your feet and shoes aired and dry. This will reduce your risk for getting athlete’s foot, toenail fungus, bacteria or warts, but it isn’t foolproof.

Foot surgery should always be a last resort for fungus toenails, but if needed, it is absolutely done right in the podiatrist’s office. For further information or to schedule an appointment to evaluate and treat toenail fungus, consult with your dermatologist.

The medicines used to treat athlete’s foot are normally totally ineffective against fungus toenails infections. The drug is used in the United States to treat toenail fungus, and several kinds of thrush as well as cryptococcal meningitis. Treat athlete foot regularly as it can progressively lead to a condition of toenail fungus.

To treat toenail fungus apply tea tree oil to all areas of the toenail and toe that are affected by the fungus. Due to the well known fact that it is difficult to treat or eradicate toenail fungus, it is a good idea to try to prevent it. Fungal infections can affect the fingernails as well as the toenails, but toenail fungus is more difficult to treat because toenails grow more slowly.

Fortunately for all of us now, toenail fungus is a relatively easy to treat condition. Most of the medication for nail fungus on the market is excellent for home use, and nail fungus can be treated in the privacy of your own home! To view the many excellent products to treat fungus and fungal toenails, please view our range of product information on this website!

Although obesity is the problem that has assumed a dangerous proportion at present, diet pills plays an important role in counteracting weight gain. As obesity is the main cause of many life threatening diseases, it can not be ignored. Not only the adults, but also the children and adolescents are suffering from obesity.

Obesity will not only affect the body but also the mind. It will lower your self confidence. It will lower your work output. Hence the problem obesity must be tackled at any cost. The best way to lose weight is by good diet plan, and perfect exercise program. Besides these we can use diet pills that are tested and proved safe by the medical experts.

There are several diet pills available in the market. These pills if consumed as per the advice of the doctor reduce your weight and make you slim and healthy. Phentermine hydrochloride is a diet pill that is very commonly used by many people. This diet pill reduces or suppresses the appetite there by reducing the intake of food. This medicine is very safe to consume and tested scientifically for its effectiveness and safety. The best results are obtained when this diet pill is taken along with perfect diet plan and exercise. Phentermine is known to stimulate the region hypothalamus and disturbs the function of few neurotransmitters. Hypothalamous is a part of a brain that controls appetite, body temperature and autonomic nervous system. Phentermine diet pill must be consumed as a whole on an empty stomach preferably before breakfast. It is better to avoid phentermine in the latter part of the day as it will disturb your sleep.

Benzphtamine – this is another popular diet pill that is widely used by obese people to reduce their weight. This is again an appetite suppressant. This is an important diet pill that is used for short time management of obesity. This diet pill must be consumed once daily. We should not increase the dose and must stick to the dose prescribed by the doctor otherwise we will get addicted to this medicine. If over dose of benzphtamine is suspected we must consult the near by poison control room at once with the dose of medicine consumed. Tremor, fast breathing, restlessness, vomition, and diarrhea are some of the symptoms of over dose. This diet pill must be stored at room temperature and away from light, because moisture and heat will spoil the medicine and make it not suitable for consumption. Stomach upsets; constipation, sleeplessness, irritability and dry mouth are some of the possible side effects of diet pill, benzphtamine.

Phendimetrazine-this is a yet another popular diet pill used for the management of obesity. This diet pill is consumed orally. It reduces the appetite thus helping to lose weight. This diet pill increases the rate of heart beat and blood pressure. These changes will make the person less inclined for food. Phendimetrazine in combination with good diet plan and exercise program will produce quick results. One disadvantage of this diet pill is that the people develop drug resistance faster; hence this diet pill can be used for a very short period of time. The long acting phendimetrazine must be consumed as a whole. If broken down by chewing the action of the drug will not be satisfactory and the side effects will also be more. Central nervous system disturbances, blurred vision, GI tract disturbances are some of the possible side effects of this diet pill [phendimetrazine].

Among the most frustrating of sleep disorders, insomnia can be particularly maddening. The persistent inability to fall asleep, especially when you are tired, can leave you stressed and wound up and wondering what is wrong. Yes, an inability to sleep will occasionally occur, but persistent insomnia is no laughing matter.

Most everyone experiences some minor episodes of insomnia lasting from one night to intermittent episodes of sleeplessness for a few weeks. This form, called transient insomnia, is not unexpected and almost everyone will face it at some point in their lives. For instance, a particularly stressful week at work might leave someone unable to sleep for a few nights. But, once the week is over, they can get back to sleeping normally.

Some people may also experience acute insomnia, which is a form of short-term insomnia that can strike at some points in peoples?lives. For instance, if someone is suffering through a job loss or a difficult divorce, they may experience a persistent inability to get good sleep for anywhere from three weeks to six months. Notice that, in the case of acute insomnia, this is not a nightly occurrence and the sufferer is still able to get good sleep on some nights.

The most severe form of insomnia is chronic insomnia, which occurs almost nightly for a month or longer. This form of insomnia often seems to arise from seemingly nowhere and leaves the sufferer almost no reprieve. Oftentimes, this can leave the person fatigued, but not actually tired enough to fall asleep. This situation can lead to depression, anxiety, an inability to concentrate, and a feeling of just “being in a fog?all the time. Obviously, this is a bad state for a person to live in and they need to find relief.

While the temporary forms of insomnia can be relieved by relieving the temporary causes of insomnia, this is not a solution for people who suffer from chronic insomnia. Thus, people with chronic insomnia need to find solutions that address insomnia specifically.

Many people turn to sleeping pills in these situations, but these are problematic in some ways. Sleeping pills can be addictive even in their most benign forms and, oftentimes, people will become permanently reliant upon sleeping pill to get their nightly rest.

Other people seek herbal treatments, such as valerian, chamomile or lavender, for relief from insomnia. Many of these herbal remedies are fairly benign, but they can still leave people reliant on them to fall asleep at night.

More traditional remedies for insomnia include exercising in the afternoon, drinking warm milk before bed, avoiding anything mentally stimulating in the evening, and just going to bed early at night and waking up early in the morning. Obviously, it is preferable to start with traditional remedies such as this and move toward herbal remedies or sleeping pills if these do not help.

While insomnia is frustrating for people who suffer from it, it is treatable. There are many remedies out there and people should not be afraid to try them. In most cases, people can simply wait out the circumstances that are causing their insomnia and they will be fine. However, if insomnia is an almost nightly occurrence for a month or more, it is time to talk to a doctor and see what remedies might be suitable.

Lyrica, also known as pregabalin derived from a prohibited neurotransmitter, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Lyrica has been standardised by the FDA for diabetic nerve ache and postherapetic nerve ache. Lyrica connects to calcium path in the central nervous system. Its outcome is realised due to its ability to trim down the calcium dependent release of several neurotransmitters.

Researchers at the University of Michigan assessed the efficiency and security of pregabalin for the treatment of fibromyalgia (FM) in an eight-week, placebo-controlled, phase II test. The patients were given with pregabalin doses of 150mg, 300mg, or 450mg per day or with a placebo. The total dosage were fragmented into three doses a day and consumed for eight weeks. After a one-week baseline-watching period, the primary measurement of efficiency was the pain level at the end of the eight weeks. This information was taken from daily ache diaries.

Patients treated with lyrica had statistically momentous improvement in their average pain score contrasted with the placebo. The patients who are treated with lyrica, 28.9 percent had a statistically noteworthy (greater than 50 percent) drop in pain from baseline matched up to 13.2 percent of patients treated with the placebo. Forty-eight percent of patients in the lyrica of the 450mg per day group had at least a 30 percent statistically momentous fall in pain from baseline compared to 27 percent on the placebo. The significant progress in pain happened as early as week one. There were major improvements in practical ways such as sleep, fatigue, and activity of life. The most common treatment events were drowsiness and faintness and were considered to be dose related. Discontinuous rates owed to side effects were less than 10 percent.

Fibromyalgia experts have used Lyrica in practice and more medical information regarding its effect on Fibromyalgia is yet to come out.

Don’t Let Frequent Bad Headaches Control Your Life

By , November 13, 2013 11:34 am

Migraine headaches affect millions of people in the U.S.–including one of the nation’s most famous TV and film actress, Marcia Cross.

Don’t Let Frequent Bad Headaches Control Your Life

Imagine a headache so bad that the slightest noise or glimpse of light will increase the already intense pain and nausea you are experiencing-and your only refuge is to lie down in a quiet, dark room. This may be what it is like if you are a person who suffers from migraine headaches. Migraine headaches affect millions of people in the U.S.-including one of the nation’s most famous TV and film actresses, Marcia Cross.

More than 28 million Americans suffer from migraine headaches, which affect three times more women than men. If left untreated, migraines can disrupt your life, even making it impossible to participate in daily activities.

Fortunately, Marcia was quickly diagnosed when she saw a doctor-likely because she experiences classic migraine symptoms, including nausea and visual disturbances known as aura. Yet, despite her quick diagnosis, Marcia struggled with her migraines for years because she was unable to manage them effectively. On one occasion, the pain was so bad that she ended up in the emergency room.

Then, about 10 years ago, she finally found relief. While on the set, she experienced a migraine headache so bad that she had to be driven home. “Fortunately, a woman on the set who also experienced migraines told me about how she found relief with a migraine-specific treatment called Imitrex?[sumatriptan succinate] Tablets,” says Marcia. “That was a turning point for me. I visited my doctor again and he prescribed it for me, too. It worked for me and I have been taking it ever since.”

Since then, Marcia has also learned more about her migraines, and how stress and certain foods can trigger them. Now, while migraines are still part of her life, they don’t control it. “I’m not afraid of them anymore-I know my triggers and how to avoid them. Even so, I still may get a migraine from time to time, so I carry my prescription migraine medicine at all times. I take it at the first sign of migraine pain, so I can get back to my life,” says Marcia.

Today, Marcia Cross is speaking out about her own struggle with migraines with the hopes that her efforts will help other migraine sufferers see a doctor to get the help they need.

“I struggled for several years because, at the time, there was nothing that helped me with my migraines,” says Marcia. “But today, there is no reason to suffer. There are effective migraine-specific medications that can help manage your migraines. But the first step is to talk to a doctor and get diagnosed.”

Diagnosis sounds simple, but it can be a real challenge for migraine sufferers. In fact, nearly half of all people who suffer from migraines are undiagnosed. Migraine symptoms can vary from person to person and from attack to attack and many people don’t experience the classic migraine symptoms-making diagnosis more difficult.

Misdiagnosis can be a problem for migraine sufferers, too. Migraine pain can occur on both sides of your head, and can include additional symptoms like a runny nose, sinus/face pain and pressure, and neck pain. Because patients don’t commonly associate these additional symptoms with migraine, many people may be misdiagnosed with tension or “sinus” headache. This presents a real problem, because misdiagnosis of migraine as “sinus” headache can lead to unnecessary expense, including tests, medications and sometimes even surgery. This can also delay the relief of pain for migraine sufferers.

What You Can Do

If you suffer from frequent bad headaches, there are simple steps you can take to get the help you need. Learning to recognize and explain your symptoms is the first step. Migraine sufferers who are able to accurately report their symptoms are more likely to obtain the proper diagnosis.

Because symptoms can vary from attack to attack and person to person, it can seem challenging to know what kind of information to share with your doctor. But there are tools that can help. “One tool that can help you relay what you are experiencing is the Headache Quiz, available at www.headache quiz.com,” says Marcia. “I encourage anyone suffering from frequent bad headaches to take the quiz and talk to their doctor about their results. Once they get the right diagnosis, they can get the help they need.”

Important Safety Information About Imitrex?

Imitrex is approved for the acute treatment of migraines with or without aura in adults.

Patients should not take Imitrex if they have certain types of heart disease, history of stroke or TIAs, peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud syndrome, or blood pressure that is uncontrolled. Patients with risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or being a smoker, should be evaluated by a doctor before taking Imitrex. Very rarely, certain people, even some without heart disease, have had serious heart-related problems. Patients who are pregnant, nursing or taking medications should talk to their doctor.

Current info about aching joints is not always the easiest thing to locate. Fortunately, this report includes the latest aching joints info available.

You wouldn’t be surprised to hear that once we get older the chance increases that our joints fall victim to illness and all sorts of pain. Experts around the world say that to fight joint diseases known as osteoarthritis, specific precautions need to be taken.

If you are in a certain phase and are really thinking about taking a closer look and diagnose your aching joints, it’s fundamental to have a good understanding of the primary cause of your joint pain.

Before you start considering anything you first need to find out what caused the pain you are experiencing. Many people suffer from joint pain because they over trained. Another possibility is that you are suffering from a strain or injury or even a disease you had in the past like chickenpox. Having aching joints could also be a result from having an autoimmune disease like rheumatoid arthritis, chandromalacia patellae, septic arthritis, and bursitis.

It’s very important for you to really comprehend what the difference is between acute and chronic arthritis. This information is very important if you are looking for a diagnosis to your aching joints. The term “Acute?refers to joint pain conditions lasting shorter than eight weeks while the term “Chronic?means that the pain lasts for a much longer amount of time.

Do you know what inflammatory and noninflammatory joint pain is? If you don’t, you are glad to be reading this page.

The major difference between the two is that patients with “Noninflammatory?disorders usually experience morning stiffness less than 15 minutes. If you have “Inflammatory?disorders you will also experience increasing stiffness after resting but in this case I’m talking about morning stiffness that last longer than 45 minutes. If you have this disorder you will also notice an increasing chance of swelling that can be very uncomfortable. How should one go about diagnosing?

Basically there are 4 options available to diagnose your aching joints. Well known and probably the most popular methods are embrocations, NSAID, analgesia and last but not least supplementation. Embrocations, NSAID’s and analgesia are superb treatment methods, but if you decide to go down this road I strongly suggest that you consult a physician before making a decision on your own.

However it could also be that your aching joints are far less severe. In that case there are a few good over-the-counter supplements on the market you can go out and buy: You can buy RRS-Enduro Joint (Unisex), Glucosamine Chondroitin Combo (Jarrow Formulas) and Glucosamine 1500 w/ Chondroitin and MSN (Jarrow Formulas)

Don’t make the mistake by thinking that joint pain is only experienced by people when they age. There are many athletes that suffer from this condition as well. Many basketball players, long distance runners, soccer players, sprinters and football players are also in danger of suffering from aching joints.

Don’t think that because you are young that you won’t develop aching joints. Joint pain can really strike at any age.

That’s why you’ve got to be smart and need to start taking care of your joints today!

Hopefully the sections above have contributed to your understanding of aching joints. Share your new understanding about aching joints with others. They’ll thank you for it.

During a job interview, have you ever been asked to piss for your new employer? New applicants for many of the Fortune 500 corporations are now being forced to take a drug test. In fact, 15 million will be tested this year. Drug byproducts can be detected in urine, blood, hair, external residue, and even perspiration! Drugs aren’t the only things they test for; employers are using urinalysis to test women for pregnancy. Pregnant women are getting laid off or denied employment after taking such a test. Parents are spying on their children. The DOD Directive requires the military to screen all active duty members annually. If you don’t want to be a victim of the drug war, this text will help you. If you are well known, this text may protect your reputation. I strongly recommended that drug users (pot smokers in particular) read this.

Detection times vary depending on analytical method used, drug metabolism, tolerance, patient’s condition, fluid intake and method and frequency of ingestion.

Other factors determining degree of intoxication include metabolism, tolerance, frequency of intake, fluid intake, amount of marijuana, potency of marijuana, and length of time you’ve been a user. If you use marijuana on rare occasions, your urine may be clean of metabolites in less than a week. There is a common and strange phenomena that occurs with chronic users. You would expect a chronic user to have the longest detection time and the smallest chance of passing. This is not always the case. A chronic user with a high tolerance will eliminate drugs quicker than an occasional user. Chronic users have tested negative after a week long binge. Lipid tissue also makes a huge difference. Skinny users not only have a faster metabolism (usually), but also lack storage for THC metabolites. Fat will cause a lag in excretion pattern, and lead to a longer detection time. You should now be able to understand why an individuals detection time for THC is so unpredictable.

Positive (defined): 50 nanograms of THC metabolites per milliliter defines a “presumptive positive” by NIDA certified labs. This value was originally 20 ng/mL, but too many false positives resulted. So the level was raised to 100 ng/mL to reduce false positives. As of January 1995, the threshold was lowered back down to 50 ng/mL because drinking water would easily bring a positive below 100 ng. Be aware that these cutoffs are not universally consistent.

Drink at least eight hefty glasses of fluid (preferably water) just prior to the test. Many people start drinking water several days before the test; which is useless. Water does NOT clean any THC metabolites out of your system because THC is not water soluble. Water only dilutes urine temporarily. Do not over do it; you can get water intoxication. People can actually overdose and even die from water intoxication. It’s very hard to do, and you’ll vomit before anything gets serious.

Eating red meat will boost creatinine levels. If you eat a lot of red meat for the 3 days prior to the test, your creatinine level will be normal, and the lab won’t know that you’ve diluted your urine sample.

Dangerous Drugs in the News

A number of “dangerous drugs?have been in the news recently. These reports started to surface when Congress was having hearings about the painkiller, Vioxx. A Food and Drug Administration staff member testified in front of Congress that there are safety concerns about several medications. These medications are Accutane, Arava, Bextra, Celebrex, Crestor, Lotronex, Meridia, and Serevent.

When you put the problems in perspective, the number of problems related to these medications is incredibly small compared to the number of people who took the drugs. If five million people have taken the medication and one has had a serious side effect, that’s one in a five million, or 0.00002%. The chances are not that great, but the chance is there.

The following is a quick summary of what the FDA believes are some of the concerns with these medications.

Accutane
This medication is very effective for severe acne. It is also well-known that Accutane causes serious birth defects. Because of this, the manufacturer has set guidelines for its dispensing. If the patient is female, she must have a negative pregnancy test EVERY month before the doctor writes the prescription. It then must be filled within seven days. The patient must also go back to the doctor every month for a new prescription. Women who take Accutane and are sexually active should two forms of birth control and not become pregnant for at least a month after stopping the medication.

The problems arise when women take Accutane from a friend or get it from another country. They are then not being monitored by a doctor and may not know the dangers of pregnancy.

Another topic surrounding Accutane is the reported increase in suicide rates. It has been stated that Accutane makes some patients feel depressed or irritable. This is where friends and family can step in and discuss these problems with the patient. If someone is feeling depressed or has thoughts of suicide while on Accutane, please tell them to let their doctor know right away.

Arava
Arava is used for treating severe rheumatoid arthritis. During the last several years, reports of serious lung or liver problems have arisen in patients taking this medication. Patients on Arava are required to get frequent liver function tests to detect any problems before they get serious. Virtually every time, liver failure occurs gradually over a long period of time. By testing frequently, these problems can be detected early and can be fixed. The signs of liver problems include: nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, dark urine, pale stools, and yellowish eyes or skin.

The signs of lung problems include fever above 101? chills, sore throat, ear pain, cough, nose pain, or colored sputum. If you are taking Arava and have any of these symptoms, contact your doctor.

Celebrex
This medication is used primarily for mild to moderate pain. It works in the same way that Vioxx did before it was taken off the market. Experts are therefore concerned that Celebrex can lead to the same increased chance of stroke of other heart problems.

The cardiovascular risk is extremely low, but the risk is there. Because of this, those who have heart problems may want to avoid Celebrex. If you are currently taking Celebrex, contact your doctor about your concerns. Often times, regular anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or naproxen work quite well.

Crestor
Crestor is in the drug class statins and is used to lower cholesterol. Some consumer advocates say it should be taken off the market because of the chance for kidney and liver problems. These problems are rare and the risk is minimized by using lower doses and by periodically checking kidney and liver function. Anyone taking Crestor should call their doctor if they experience muscle pain or weakness, nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, dark urine, pain when urinating, pale stools, or yellow-looking eyes or skin. These are the signs of liver or kidney problems.

Lotronex
Lotronex is used for women with Irritable Bowel Syndrome who have frequent diarrhea and have failed to get better on other treatments. Reports have been in the news because about 0.1% of women who take Lotronex may get sever constipation. It can also cause ischemic colitis, caused by low blood flow to parts of the gut. This may occur in about 0.29% of women who take Lotronex more than six months. If you feel the risks outweigh the rewards, there are other medications for diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome that don’t have these effects.

Meridia
Meridia is used for weight loss, but it can increase blood pressure and heart rate. There are reports of stroke and heart attack in patients taking Meridia, but these may not be caused by the drug. Since many overweight people already have high blood pressure or heart disease, it may not be he drug causing the problems. Patients taking Meridia should check their blood pressure and heart rate at least weekly and report any sustained increases to their physician.

Serevent
Serevent is a long acting bronchodilator used to prevent airway constriction in patients with asthma. It may lead to an increased risk of asthma worsening, especially when the medicine is not used properly. Serevent should not be used for emergency breathing difficulties. The fast acting inhaler, albuterol, should be used for these emergencies. Serevent should always be used with another inhaler that controls inflammation, such as an inhaled steroid.

Like winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning, rare side effects do occur, but your chances are slim of getting one. Realize that millions of people throughout the world take these medications. Some people are simply predisposed to certain problems. The news media loves to blow these stories out of proportion.

Every medication has potential side effects. Your doctor should know the possible side effects and can weigh the benefit of your medication against their risks. Be sure to ask any questions you have when a drug is prescribed by your doctor or dispensed by your pharmacist. Always follow the medication instructions and never share medications with anyone. If you are hesitant to take a certain drug, by all means, let your doctor know. There are a number of different medications that can also help you.

Spring is coming and with it the pollen that is the primary cause of Hay Fever. Start getting ready today and you can reduce the watery eyes, runny nose, and low energy associated with Hay Fever allergies.

How do we reduce the symptoms of Hay Fever? Simply put, we reduce exposure to pollen. Let’s look at a typical American home and understand how to achieve this reduction of pollen exposure.

First we need to make sure that we have air conditioning. While we all enjoy the breeze from an open window, that breeze will carry in the pollen that we want to keep out. Therefore we need air conditioning to keep the inside of our home pleasant. Since some pollen will get inside when door are opened and closed we need to make sure that the filter on is in good shape. Usually the air conditioning system uses the same filter as the furnace. Change to a high-end furnace filter available from 3M, WEB, and Purolator. These are much more effective than your bargain basement home improvement center filters. Next, change the filter monthly during the peak Hay Fever season. It is a small price to pay for a bit of cleaner air.

This next recommendation is simple and inexpensive. When you and your children come home after work or after play take a shower and put on freshly laundered clothes. Your hair, skin, and clothes are ideal places to harbor pollen so don’t spend the evening in your own personal pollen cloud. Get clean! This extra pollen-free time will help you to recover from the day and helps your body get ready for a restful sleep.

Wear a dust mask when you are doing the house cleaning. Many of the dusting and vacuuming devices put almost as much dust and pollen back circulating in the air as they take out. A dust mask will help you from getting a “snoot full?of pollen as you are cleaning. Speaking of vacuum cleaners, you should really have a HEPA vacuum or at least one with a HEPA filter after the bag filter. This will reduce the pollen and other bad stuff that you put back into your home air space.

Now that everything is clean and tidy the job should be done. If you still have sneezing at home the next line of defense is a HEPA air purifier. Put a small one in each bedroom and run them on high during the day. This will create a clean air bubble in which your family can sleep restfully. If there is a family room or other common area put an air purifier there so that just before bedtime you get maximum clean air.

If your family still sneezes see your Doctor for medication to address Hay Fever allergies. There are a number of new drugs that will block the T-Cells which cuse the runny nose due to pollen.
